Demi
From vacancy to familiar feeling
Demi is 26 and has been working at A.Hak for 2.5 years as an HR employee at the head office in Tricht. After her Human Resource Management studies, she saw a vacancy online that immediately appealed to her. “After a good conversation, I was immediately enthusiastic,” she says. “What attracted me was the combination of a large organization with a down-to-earth, family atmosphere.”
No day is the same
A working day for Demi usually starts with a daily start-up with her colleagues from the HR Service Center, in which they discuss what is going on, which tasks have priority and which projects are coming up. After that, she dives into her mailbox and schedules her agenda for that day. “I deal with everything: from inflow, through-flow and outflow and absence registration to HR processes and supporting colleagues and managers with HR issues. I really enjoy that variety.”
Demi has increasingly shaped her position in recent years. “I have set up my position in such a way that, in addition to my daily work, I am also working on various projects and optimizing processes within HR. This ensures that the work remains challenging, and it gives me the space to develop myself. Exactly what I need. And grow? I would certainly like that!”
The atmosphere
Demi describes the atmosphere within A.Hak as accessible and collegial. “You can just be yourself here. The door is always open, not only within the team, but throughout the entire organization. People really take the time for you.” Within her team, she gets energy from celebrating successes together. For example, after completing a project or after solving a difficult case. She herself typifies her role with a smile “I am really the organizer. I love it when everything is in order and arranged. Sometimes my colleagues laugh about it, sometimes they sigh, but they always know where to find me if something needs to be arranged.”
One of her favorite moments at A.Hak is the annual family day. “Teams from all business units compete for the coveted A.Hak cup. Everyone participates fanatically, completely in team colors and with slogans. Colleagues get to know each other in a different way at these kinds of moments, it is sporty, fun and a little chaotic. Great.”
Outside of work
Demi also enjoys herself outside of work. “I am a real social person and a bon vivant. Good food, a good glass of wine and long evenings dining with friends or family. Wonderful. My favorite hobby is eating out or cooking extensively myself. Preferably with good music in the background.” By ‘good music’ she mainly means her Guilty Pleasures playlist, with Dutch songs to Justin Bieber and One Direction. “Nice bad music, I love that.”
