In conversation with Tender Manager Annemarie

From intern to Tender Manager
Annemarie is 28 and has been working at A.Hak’s head office in Tricht since 2020. But that was certainly not her first introduction to the company. She already did an internship here during the first year of her Civil Engineering studies. That was in 2015. “The world of cables and pipelines was hardly covered at school. So I really wanted to discover that. I found this interesting during my internship at A.Hak, but I still had three years of study at the time.” Despite the good time she had, she decided to work somewhere else after her studies. “That turned out not to be the work I wanted to do,” Annemarie says about this. “As fate would have it, I was approached by the Operational Manager of A.Hak Leidingbouw. I still knew him from my internship and that felt right immediately. And that is still the case today!”

Annemarie started at the company office. There, she was involved in sustainability issues, among other things. After that, she spent some time calculating. Until she was asked to assist with a large tender. She liked that. “I enjoyed doing it. After this, I became a tender manager myself. I’ve been doing that for a few years now.”

What does her working day look like?
No day is the same and Annemarie’s activities now vary considerably. “Tenders always have priority for me. Simply because they have hard deadlines,” she explains. “Although the duration can vary from a few weeks to months, it always involves organizing.” But tenders are not the only thing Annemarie is involved in. “I am working on implementing a Framework Agreement that we have secured. And I want to keep challenging myself. That’s why I like to delve into contracts, legal aspects and how I can improve the department.” As if that weren’t enough, she also adds that she is an AERIUS expert.

But what makes her work so enjoyable? Annemarie doesn’t have to think about that for long. “If you want to pick something up within A.Hak, you can. You can really make it your own.” The variety and freedom really appeal to her in her work. “And bringing different people together. Both internally and externally. I really enjoy seeing that, it really gives me energy!”

Contributing to a more sustainable Netherlands
For Annemarie, the beauty of her work lies in the bigger picture. “We contribute to making the Netherlands more sustainable. Even though that sometimes feels far away, it is what I keep in the back of my mind. Working with customers, contributing to something together, that gives satisfaction.

Working together with pleasure
“The atmosphere is good and of course you create that yourself,” says Annemarie. “I like that we have a close team spirit: pleasant, collegial and always willing to help each other. It really feels like a family atmosphere. If there is anything, everyone thinks along with you.”

Relaxation and guilty pleasure
In addition to her work, Annemarie is on the yoga mat three to four times a week to relax. She loves tasty and healthy food, and that is exactly what colleagues recognize her workplace by: her desk is always well stocked with all kinds of healthy snacks. But occasionally her favorite guilty pleasure should of course not be missing: dark chocolate. “I really love that!”.
